Care Instructions

Clean

  • NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. When too much water gets absorbed by wood it begins to expand and this is what makes a cutting board warp, bend and crack.

  • HANDWASH ONLY with soft (non-abrasive) cloth.

    • If nothing too aromatic has been in contact with your board (fruits and some vegetables) simply wipe it down with damp cloth or paper towel.

    • If aromatic foods have been in contact, use mild dish soap and water with a soft, damp cloth. But remember - the less soap the better! The soap will draw out the woods oil meaning you will need to oil your board more regularly.

    • Avoid Brillo pads or other scrub sponges – we recommend using a soft, damp cloth or paper towel.

    • Never fully submerge any wood pieces in water

  • Dry thoroughly and immediately after rinsing. Don’t just set it out on a dish rack- use a towel to dry off any excess water.

Care

  • Always follow Cleaning instructions included above.

  • Oil regularly. Especially if your board is getting frequent use. For best results, apply a thin layer of Panda Bay Board Butter before AND after food use. DO NOT use vegetable or olive oils as these can become rancid and begin to smell.

  • AVOID placing hot beverages or food directly on the epoxy resin. Any heat on a resin product can soften the resin and leave markings.

  • Avoid direct sunlight. Avoid leaving products outdoors or in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Leaving them exposed to UV light will degrade the color of your beautiful piece and cause yellowing.

  • Store in a cool, dark place
